The DL831CTC  was designed for speed challenge where people have x amount of time to see how many, repetitions of a physical activity they can properly perform . The DL831CTC is a countdown timer with count tracker, designed for Showdowns.

The DL831CTC can be programmed to count down from 0 seconds to 999 seconds. Once the timer is started the person will start the activity, upon each successful completion of the activity the referee will push the HandHeld Button to advance the internal counter, this will cause the Display to advance the count up, while the countdown time is still running. The display will toggle between the count down, and the event count for button press. When the Display reaching 0 the display will switch and show the total counts completed.

Mechanical

This project uses a DL834 display with a wired handheld push button control unit.

Functional

When Power is connected to the DL831CTC it will perform a test countdown of the 3 digits, from 999, 888, 777, 666, 555, 444, 333, 222, 111, 000. Upon completion of the test sequence 00 will be displayed until the unit is initialized.

1.) Initialize the display. Press and hold the button down for at least 3 seconds, the display will show 99 (the starting countdown number).

2.) To start the count down, press and release the button, the display will start counting down in 1 sec increments.

3.) To increment the Count press and release the button at anytime during the countdown. The Count starts at 1 and increases with each button press. Each button press will toggle the display to show the current number of button presses (Count). The Count is displayed for 1 second after which the display toggles back to the countdown.

4.) When the countdown reaches 00, a standard button press is ignored and will not increment the count. 00 will be displayed for 2 seconds, and then the display toggles to displaying the Count. (End) The Count will be displayed until unit is reinitialized.
